Busy-ness

We have never been more "busy" in our world today as we rush from place to place always with our phones attached to us. Technology is making our lives both better but also more challenging. Technology will continue to grow and evolve even more every year and every moment. With that stated, our "busy-ness" needs to be re-evaluated when it comes to marriage and family life.

One way to curb this is to plan the "day of rest" being Sunday each week as a special day to slow down life and follow the Commandment to take that needed "day of rest" for God but also for yourself and for your family. Most importantly, make Sunday Mass the highlight of each Sunday. Do your best to get to Mass as a family together to celebrate Jesus!

Why It's So Important

The reason it is important to have the "day of rest" both for your marriage and for your family has many facets.

Primarily, of course, is that it is God's command and it is for our own good. Have you ever notice when you don't get the day of rest that you feel drained with less "life" in your heart? This is because on a spiritual-level, it is needed. We all need time to rest from work. We all need time at home to rest and spend time with the important people God has placed in our lives, namely our families. The family has been said to be the "Domestic Church", and it is!

In addition to the spiritual aspects, their are physical, emotional, and psychological benefit, as well. We are whole people of both body and spirit. During that Sunday rest, be sure to eat well, rest, have some fun and just "try" to forget about the to-do list, if possible.

There are always things to do within the home even on a Sunday, but try and keep it to a minimum for your own sake, your family's, and most of all for God! He is smiling on you with this gift.
