The St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation
The St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation is associated with the Mercedarian Religious Order. We are headquartered in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia. The Mercedarian Religious Order was founded in 1218 by St. Peter Nolasco.
The friars of the order live a life of poverty, chastity, obedience and a special fourth vow to “to give their lives for those in danger of losing their faith”. The mission of the Mercedarians is reaching out to those in “captivity”.
Today’s Captivity
When the Mercedarians were founded in 1218, “captivity” may have had a different meaning in some way than today, but there are still many people and families who are living in captivity. Captivity comes in many forms in modern society.
“Those who are in danger of losing their faith” are all around. Especially in our world today with its violence, lack of respect for human life, dangers to family life and many other aspects. There is so much to pray about both now and always. There are many people who feel marginalized and alone.
We Care
The St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation for Freedom, Family and Faith is here for you. This is Holy Week. We care about those God sends to us for prayer, information and accompaniment in our mission. Our mission is to bring the Mercedarian charism and care for family life and for people to the forefront of society.
What are Your Prayer Intentions?
Let us know what we can pray for you over this week. Put it in the comments. We will take those intentions to heart especially amongst our Mercedarian community and the foundation.
God bless you during this holy and wonderful time in the Church. We will be thinking of you this week and beyond. Our website address is nonnatus.
